We are Boy Scout Troop 409 from Salem, N.H.  We are sponsored by The Ernest W. Young Post 63 of the American Legion

and we are a very active troop. We are striving to make our website a valuable source of information to our members past and present, their families and anyone else interested in getting involved in Scouting.  Feel free to bookmark this site and come back to visit us often.  If you are a member of our troop, please bookmark the site to keep up to date between Troop meetings. Troop 409 is in the Nutfield District of the Daniel Webster Council. We meet at the  William T. Barron Elementary School on Butler Street in Salem, NH every Tuesday at 7:15pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Feel free to contact the webmaster with any feedback or if you have anything to contribute to the site.

Email Addresses

Do you and/or your parent(s) have an Email Address and do we have it?  If so, do we have your current address? Many things are happening on the Internet.  In an effort to cut our mailing cost and speed delivery, Troop Newsletters, other communications, and Permission Slips are distributed to those who have access via Email; others will receive them via U.S. Mail. So if you want to share with us or have changed your address(es), please contact Mr. Bohnwagner at MrB@troop409salemnh.com

Attention ALL Past and Present Members of the Troop 409 Family! We are currently in the process of uploading photos to the Pictures page, be sure to check them out. There are a few Summer Camp photos missing, if you have one that we do not have or have any others that you may want to share with the rest of the family, feel free to save them to a disk and bring them to a Troop meeting or email them to the webmaster.

About Boy Scouting:

What is the purpose of Scouting?

Boy Scouts of America's mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

What do boys get out of scouting?

As a worldwide brotherhood, Scouting is unique. It is based on the principles of loving and serving God, of human dignity and the rights of individuals, and of recognizing the obligation of members to develop and use their potential. It is a movement dedicated to bringing out the best in people. Boy Scouting doesn't emphasize winning as an end result, but rather the far more demanding task of doing one's best.

Is there a cool website for parents and kids who want to learn about scouting?

Yes, go to The Scout Zone

I have more questions.

Go to the Boy Scouts of America's page Frequently Asked Questions about Boy Scouting, or contact Mr. Bohnwagner with any additional questions you may have.
